PRS is committed to complying with HIPAA and HITECH regarding the privacy and security of protected health information (“PHI”), including , electronic protected health information (“EPHI”). As a Business Associate, PRS is required to comply with the Security Regulations outlined in HIPAA and HITECH. In order to ensure such compliance at the maximum level, PRS has implemented three types of safeguards:
1. Administrative Safeguards- Actions, policies, and procedures to manage the selection, development, implementation and maintenance of security measures to protect EPHI and manage the conduct of PRS’ employees with respect to the protection of and authorized access to EPHI.
2. Physical Safeguards- Physical measures, policies and procedures to protect PRS’ electronic information, systems, buildings, and equipment which contain EPHI from natural and environmental hazards and unauthorized entry.
3. Technical Safeguards- Technologies and the policies and procedures for its use that guard EPHI and manage access to it.
Further, PRS maintains the confidentiality, integrity and availability of the EPHI it creates, receives, transmits or maintains. PRS also protects against any reasonably anticipated threats or hazards to the security or integrity of EPHI as well as uses or disclosures of such information that are not permitted or required.
